Blog/Website url: www.myspace.com/hollyrkelley
Were you referred by a current group member? Yes
If so, who referred you? Elizabeth Johnson
What do you hope to gain from being involved in this group?
I would like to meet new friends, and I would like to learn some new scrapbooking techniques.
What do you hope to contribute to the group?
I hope to contribute to the group by being an encouraging friend and scrapbooker.
Are you a paper scrapper, digital scrapper or both?
I am mostly a paper scrapper, but digital scrapping is something I would really like to learn. However, I really don’t see myself giving up paper scrapping.
How long have you been scrapbooking?
I started scrapbooking while my husband, Alan, and I were dating. I think that I started in about 2001.
How did you get started scrapbooking?
The idea to begin scrapbooking came when I attended a Creative Memories party that my cousin was hosting.
Who inspired you most to start scrapbooking?
My family and friends inspire me because I want to preserve our precious memories. My biggest influence is my Grandmother, who passed away in 2002. We had so many wonderful times together that I just feel the need to do something to make those memories last for my future kids so they will know what a special person she was.
What do you hate the most about scrapping?
Not having enough time to actually do it!
What do you love the most about scrapping?
I love to journal, but ultimately, I love the satisfaction of finishing a page.
Have you ever taught someone else to scrapbook?
I have not really ever taught anyone to scrapbook, but I have encouraged others to start.
Have you ever made a new friend (IRL) through scrapbooking?
I have not met a new friend, but I have been reacquainted with a friend from high school through scrapbooking.
Do you have a room just for scrapping? yes
What page size do you prefer? (12X12, 8.5X11, 8X8, etc) 12x12
What albums are you working on right now?
I am working on a couple of thank you albums for my parents and my mother and father in-law to thank them for all they have done for us with moving into our home. I took pictures throughout the process while we were building.
Describe your scrapbooking style:
It is very simple.
What have you learned that has totally changed the way you scrap?
I have learned that my pages do not have to be perfect. That held me back for a long time and I would not even try. Now, I do pages that I am happy with, even if I may not have any fancy techniques on them. The important thing, I now know, is that I am preserving my memories.
What is your favorite scrap mag and/or scrap website?
I love Creating Keepsakes and I love to lurk on Two Peas.
What is your favorite scrapping tool?
I love all my tools; I don’t think I can pick a favorite. My current favorite thing is my sticker organizer that came from a local scrapbooking store that is going out of business.
Have you fallen in love with a technique?
No, not really.
What technique/s do you dislike?
I do not really dislike any, but I am not very good at setting eyelets.
What techniques would you like to learn that you do not use now?
I would like to learn all about different ways to use ribbons, and I would also like to learn how to make pockets for my pages to keep cards, etc.
What is your favorite music or TV show to scrap to?
I love country music, and my current favorite TV show is Boston Legal.
Is there anything you have to have by your side while you scrap?
A drink
Hardest thing you have ever scrapped?
A page about picking out my wedding dress because even though it brought back wonderful memories it also brought back some sad memories. My grandmother died a few months before my wedding, and I so wanted her to be with me when I picked out a wedding dress.
Tell us about your favorite layout you have ever completed?
A page I did in honor of my puppy dog, Lucy. I just love the way it turned out.

I am a second grade teacher. My husband, Alan, and I just built a house, and we moved in last month. We are still living among boxes, but, hopefully, we will get settled soon.

Staci's Scrapper of the Month Interview
Who inspired you most to start scrapbooking? My friend Kori in Okinawa. When Kade was 2 she invited me to a weekly scrapping session at the chapel with some friends.
Have you ever taught someone else to scrapbook? Yes, that's the funnest part! I love to see them start and then get addicted right away!
Do you have a room just for scrapping? I have an office, with lots of storage. It started out as just my scrapping room, but then my husband moved his stuff in there so that we could make a guest room. So I have a room with my computer in it, which is a huge distraction! So when I really want to scrap I take my supplies to the dining room.
What do you have to have by your side while you scrap? Coffee! and usually an idea book!
What is your fave scrap mag and scrap website? My favorite mag is Scrapbooks etc, and my favorite site right now (this changes daily!) is www.scrapinstyletv.com
What have you learned that has totally changed the way you scrap? To let go of perfection! Gosh, this has been the hardest thing ever! I want the pages to be perfect and look just like I had pictured them in my mind. This never happens! I'm such a planner! I have to have the pictures that go with the paper, and then I have to have the plan. It's taken my a long time learn that the story is more important than the design! I spent a week last year, just taking things and sticking them down, in a free form kind of way. This really helped me let go of that "perfection problem."
Have you fallen in love with a technique? Not really, I love them all! But I'm not into time consuming projects. (cause I won't finish them!)
Does your hubby/significant other scrapbook too? NO! are you kidding!? He loves the finished product, but has no interest. I like it that way though, he has his things, I have mine!
Is your hubby jealous of your scrapping? No...he has way too many hobbies to show any interest in another one...LOL!
What is your fave music or tv show to scrap to? I listen to internet radio when I scrap... www.klove.com ; www.divacraftlounge.com ; www.disctalkradio.com
Hardest thing you have ever scrapped? The Christmas that I went home, and my Mom got really sick (so did the rest of us!) I still haven't finished all of those pictures. She wanted those weeks to be perfect, and it was such a mess. She ended up in the hospital, and I tear-up when I think about trying to journal that time!
Do you have dreams about scrapping? I don't have dreams about scrapping, but I sometimes lay in bed and think of color combinations!
Have you ever made a new friend (IRL) through scrapbooking? Yes! Susanne would be the latest. I meet her on the MDM forum, and found out she lives about an hour away. We have a "play date" planned this weekend!
What do you hate the most about scrapbooking? I can't keep up with all the new products! There is something new coming out everyday!
What do you love the most about scrapping? The creative outlet...the story, looking back
Do you blog your scrapbook layouts? Most of them, www.simplyphoto.typepad.com/simplethings
Tell us about your favorite layout you have ever completed? My most favorite layout so far has to be one I made it for a CJ about friends. I love the colors, and the little files for each friend and the hidden journaling about me!

Scrapper of the Month Challenges
Our Scrapper of the Month is Staci and she has prepared some great challenges for us! Please complete as many as you can and share your work with us in the gallery!
Sketch Challenge!
I love a good sketch to get you started! What’s great about them is that you can flip it to the side, and it totally changes the look and feel of the Sketch. So for this challenge, FLIP IT!
Here’s the sketch:
http://www.pencillines.com/2007/08/sketch-47.html
and if you look at some of the examples, you will notice that it’s already been flipped a couple of times.
Journaling Challenge:
Oh this is hard for me! I hate to Journal…but that’s why it’s a challenge!
I love this site:
http://postsecret.blogspot.com/
So here is the challenge. Tell us your secret. You can go as far as you want, meaning tell us a super secret, or a silly one. Just journal a secret!
Bonus points for you if you make a layout to include your journaling!!
Product of choice:
I wanna see your layouts with “tabs”. I have just been in love with Office and school supplies forever! So when I saw all of these Office type scrapbooking supplies, I FELL IN LOVE! So show me, some layouts with TABS. Tabs on photos, tabs on the top of the page, tabs on the bottom of the page, books with tabs, I love tabs! LOL!
Make a Simple Album
Seriously, you could make this in about two hours. Just sit down and do it!
http://cathyzielske.typepad.com/my_weblog/2007/08/something-like-.html
Cathy Z, has all the instructions, and even a download that you can print to get you started and make a nice Simple Album! Love it!
If you do this challenge, I will personally send you a prize package!
Photo Challenge
Now, I wouldn’t be me without a Photo Challenge! This one from CK website:
Photo Mix Up
Should I use black or white photos or color on this layout? Why even make yourself choose? Use both! You can get some very spectacular results, as the contrast between the two styles play off each other. Also a good way to create a focal point photo. Just print the one you want to highlight in color, with the rest remaining black and white.
